At the beginning of class I discussed some potential activities students can do to improve their grades. In each class I handed out an additional worksheet that students can complete to increase their parts of sentence test scores. I gave these to students who scored low on the exam in place of an AMP or retake. In first period, enough students demonstrated mastery to move forward to the next unit. In second and fourth periods we will be revisiting the unit in the upcoming weeks as it serves as a foundation for the next unit. However, students are still accountable for the test and extra sheet. The second activity students may take advantage of is an extra credit opportunity posted on this website. Students may choose one option to submit. The parts of sentence test sheet is due Monday, 11/28. The extra credit activity is due Wednesday, 11/30. There will be no exceptions to these dates.
I also review the feedback I received from self and peer evaluations regarding the epic teams project. I showed each class the responses for several questions from the forms they had submitted. I removed names and identifying information.
Finally, we finished listening to the Aeneid as we read along. I stopped periodically to highlight important points, clarify the text, and provide answers to questions students would answer at the end of the reading. Students then worked with a partner to answer a series of basic reading comprehension questions as well as a couple of critical thinking comparisons. If students paid attention during the reading, they were able to answer the first 10 questions easily as I covered each in my discussion of the text.
I advised students who had not completed the Google form by the deadline I posted (Friday, 11/18 by 3pm) to email me for a link. They can still earn credit, but they must email me as it is no longer available on the website.
