Most of the period was filled with group presentations. 1st period was interrupted with an assembly for class rings, so the presentations will have to continue tomorrow. Both 2nd and 4th period finished presentations early, so we reviewed material for the short story exam and completed self-reflections. 2nd period was able to use the class laptops to complete their reflections.
After we reviewed the DLP and I gave students the words for the week, students had the rest of the period to complete their group analysis and format their presentations. students in 1st & 2nd periods had access to the class set of laptops. Students in 4th period had access to a couple of desktops, and I allowed one group to go to the media center. Groups had at least an hour to work.
Today we had the unit 4 quiz. After that, students worked independently to finish some review exercises in the grammar packet. They then moved into their groups to continue preparing for the presentation on Tuesday.
**Academic Improvement Contracts were due in class today**
Interim reports were handed out during homeroom.
Today we worked on adverbs- identifying them in sentences as well as writing with them
I very quickly reviewed the guidelines for group presentations and gave each group a copy of the slides. First period also received a copy of the rubric. Groups had the rest of class to work, and the suggested goal was to read their short stories.
Today I introduced adjectives and adverbs, reviewing their purpose and function. We then began practicing with exercises from the 10.4 packet.
I reviewed the slides for the short story group project and explained the task board, providing each group with handouts and sticky notes to use. Groups then worked to define roles, choose stories, and develop a list of tasks.
